College Awareness Week Ideas

Here are several more ideas that can be used to enhance such an event.


Diploma Display Teachers and staff can bring in copies of their diplomas to create a large bulletin board display. Diplomas can be mounted on large square cardstock in school colors. For even more fun, ask staff to include a small photo of themselves taken during their college years. The old pictures will draw kids to the display, and they will enjoy finding out which colleges their favorite teachers attended.

Classroom College Activities Ask teachers or individual staff members to conduct a classroom lesson focusing on college at some point during the week. Provide an incentive for teachers to get involved. Ask them to write down a brief lesson plan for what they did, and include any feedback from teachers or staff about how the activity went. Compile these plans into a binder to use as a resource in years to come.

College Research Have each student sign up for his or her favorite college. Each student then has the task of researching that college to find out specific information that they will then share with their class. Possible research questions can include things
